Valentin printers as a component of complex RFID solutions

With the advancement of the existing RFID printer solution for HF applications, Carl Valentin GmbH took a step forward to cover as much as possible application ranges.

With the beginning of January 2008 printers for HF and UHF range are available. The decisive point for this development was to create a user-friendly solution. Carl Valentin GmbH achieved this objective:

• The user can program and print existing tags easily.
• The necessary hardware is integrated in the printer.
• The user must only effect the definition of data to be
programmed.

With the integrated write unit, tags for HF range (13.56 MHz) or UHF range (868 MHz) can be programmed depending on application. The definition in terms of data of a tag that is to be programmed can be effected in the easy way with our proven label creation software 'Labelstar PLUS'.

By the selection of suitable RFID hardware components it is possible to offer a RFID version for as much as possible printer types. Also the option is available to refit already in-use printers with the RFID functionality.

A further new development to the Slap & Ship subject could be realised with the Valentin printer RFID Vario II. The Vario II supports thereby the reading of an EAN128 bar code by means of a scanner. The RFID logistics label already saved in the printer is printed and programmed with the EPC (Electronic Product Code) calculated at the same time without using further software. The conversion is proceeded in the device. In addition the following encoding procedures are supported: SSCC-96, SGTIN96, SGLN96, GRAI96, and GIAI96.

As advancement Valentin offers a Slap & Ship solution as simple 'stand alone' starting solution. With the arranged combination of a RFID printer, a bar code scanner and a RFID tag which can be written, the layout of forwarded goods pallets with an EPC Global standardised RFIG UHF GEN 2 tag is simple and possible without additional hardware and software. The supplier prints the labels for the pallet as usual. At the goods issuing department the correct bar code is scanned with a hand-held scanner (directly connected at the printer). The printer calculates the desired EPC, programs the tag and prints the logistics label. Different codes are supported (SSCC96, SGTIN96, SGLN96, GRAI96, GIAI96).

Carl Valentin GmbH presents itself consistently with the advancement of user-oriented printer solutions on the RFID sector.
